Dance is arguably the most powerful art form of creative expression and universal communication -- learn the why behind the how and acquire tools to explore, release, connect and tap into the depths of freedom in movement through vulnerability and body awareness. This class is for all levels, styles and will help you feel more comfortable dancing “in your own skin,” performing in front of others and picking up choreography!

Yesenia "Yessy" Gomez is a first generation Hispanic-American, Grand Rapids native, and a staple in the Midwest dance community for over 20 years. Some of her training includes the late Al Gilbert, the late Doug Caldwell, Patrick Johnson (Harlem Theatre Ballet), Sean Green (Miami), HipHopConnXion (Chi), Gigi Torres, Rhapsody (NYC), Thommie Retter, Daryle Retter (LA) and to name a few. Yesenia was a Chicago finalist for the Beyonce UK & Spain tour in 2007 and received airtime on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" in its early seasons. She was also a semi-finalist for the plus size dance competition television shows "Dance Your A** Off" and "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls." Her classes have been taught all over the country with works featured on stages in Germany, Belgium, France and Czech Republic via the Blue Lake International Performance Ensemble. Her choreographic awards span over two decades and include two ArtPrize Juror's awards (outstanding venue and best installment) in 2016 for their collaborative work with Cultura Collective. Some of her musical works include: Xanadu, Seussical, Newsies, Wizard of Oz, Grease, Footloose, On The Town, Austentatious, Love & Information, Willy Wonka, The Wiz, Welcome to Arroyo’s and The Great American Trailer Park Musical. She can be seen dancing in the BET movie "Block Party" filmed in her hometown (released June 2022 on BET+). Yesenia created Vizion Talent Group, LLC to expand opportunities and help artists prepare for a career in the commercial dance industry.
